Springfield Week in Review

A look back at the notable happenings in recent days.

This week, Simpsons creator Matt Groening revealed the home state of the show’s Springfield: Oregon. Patch editor Adam Bulger that while it's tempting to react to that with a hearty "boo-urns, the proper response should be "ha-ha." Springfield, NJ is officially not the home of the Simpsons. That’s perfectly cromulent. It’s still a great town. It's definitely better than the riot-prone, toxic hellhole the Simpsons live in.

Student of the Month was recognized for her efforts in and out of the classroom. She has made quite an impact on Dayton as she is the President of Book Club, President of National Art Honors Society, Vice President of the Executive Board, and the stage manager for every musical since 7th grade in Florence M. Gaudineer Middle School. Rachel was also a part of the Girls soccer team that beat David Brearley High School for the first time in ten years. She is also a member of the Spanish Honors Society and the student council for all four years. Her accolades are not limited to extracurricular activities. Rachel has taken, and performed exceedingly well, in many Honors and AP courses in her time at Dayton.

The  asked for residents to show their support this week. The Springfield Library is one of seven finalists in a worldwide contest sponsored by the EMC Corporation Heritage Trust. The contest will award three prizes in the amounts of $5,000, $10,000 or $15,000 to be used for the digitization of historic documents.
