The First Presbyterian Church of Springfield led by Rev. Victoria Ney, Pastor, will conduct a Maundy Thursday Tenebrae Service on Thursday, April 17th at 7:30pm at the Historic First Presbyterian Church located at 210 Morris Avenue. (center of town)
The public is invited to attend this free event.
The distinctive ceremony of Tenebrae is the gradual extinguishing of candles while a series of readings and psalms are recited. In this service, the choir or soloist sings a hymn or anthem related to each reading. Interior lighting is reduced as each candle is extinguished, creating a powerful affect.
The choir is led by Ms. Liliya Khobotkova, Music Director.
