Take a Sneak Peek at the Newly-Renovated Chisholm Center

The lobby boasts a natural gas fireplace.

The 'Senior Wing' at the Chisholm Center is ready for its big reveal. Following months of hard work, the walls are freshly-painted, new floors and furniture are in and flat screen televisions have been installed and are working.

To celebrate the completion of the project, which Township Administrator Anthony Cancro said has been several years in the making, a ribbon cutting ceremony and grand opening party will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at the newly-renovated center, located at 100 S. Springfield Avenue.

Visitors will receive a warm welcome courtesy of a natural gas fireplace in the lobby and reception area.

Renovating the 'Senior Wing' is the first of two projects planned for the Chisholm Center, which originally served as a grammar school when it was built in the late 1920s to early 1930s. The 'Youth Wing' will be renovated in 2014, Cancro said.

Past and current Township Committee members, as well as Union County Freeholder Bruce Bergen, are expected to attend Thursday's celebration. Hot food and refreshments will be served.

Guests who are able to comfortably cross the street are asked to park in Temple Sha’arey Shalom's parking lot. Those requiring nearer access are welcome to park in the Chisholm parking lot. A newly-installed ramp is located in the rear of the building.
