Springfield Man Charged with Murder

Essex county law enforcement believe Township teen shot Orange man.

Police have charged a Springfield teen in connection with the January murder of an Orange teen.

Essex County and Orange police officers arrested Keevin David, 19, of Springfield on Thursday, May 5 for the murder of Tyrell Coleman, 18, of Orange.

Coleman died from multiple gunshot wounds after a shooting on January 25. His parent found him in the foyer of their building at 12:45 p.m. He was taken to University Hospital in Newark and pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

Earlier this year, Essex County Sheriff Armando Fontoura offered a $5,000 reward for information about Coleman’s death. According to a press release from the Essex County Prosecutor’s office, arrest warrants for David were issued on May 5, and he was taken into custody late that night.

David is currently being held in the Essex County Correctional Facility with a  $500,000 bail. His first court appearance is expected to be early next week.
