Barnett and Bandrowski Clinch Nomination

Springfield Democrats have their official candidates.

Springfield Democrats: meet your candidates for . 

have won the Democratic nomination for Township Committee, besting challenger Bart Fraenkel.

Barnett and Bandrowski both garnered over 500 votes in the Tuesday, June 5 Primary, more than doubling the 211 votes that independent Democrat and former Springfield Mayor Fraenkel drew according to election data provided by Springfield's Township Clerk office.

In the township Democratic Contest, voters pulled the lever most for first-time committee candidate Bandrowski. The president of Springfield's historical society and the former chair of the Board of Adjustment tallied 544 voters. Bandrowski's running mate Barnett, a former member of the Township Committee, had 506 vote in his favor.

The top vote getter in Springfield was incumbent Senate candidate Bob Menendez, who pulled in 610 Democratic votes. Barack Obama, the president of these United States, came in second with 582.

Former Springfield Township Committee Attorney Bruce Bergen, running for Board of Freeholders, ran a close third to Barack Obama in attracting Springfield Democrats to the polls, with 560 Dems opting to vote for him.
