Busy Saturday for Block Parties and Politicians

Springfield GOP candidates pressed the flesh at neighborhood gatherings.

Springfield Mayor Ziad Shehady and Township  Police Auxiliary member Bobby Abraham turned Springfield's September spike of neighborhood block parties into a campaign trail on Saturday, Sept. 11. The two Republican candidates for the two contested seats on Springfield's Township Committee visited three block parties to make their case for November and meet with township residents.

Of particular note, Shehady said in an email to Patch, was the 37th Annual Springbrook Road Block Party.

"The organizers had a raffle, as they do every year, and they donate the proceeds to the Springfield First Aid Squad," Shehady said, adding that more information about the raffle was available on his Facebook page.
