On Sunday, Sept. 19, Scotty's Steak House and Comedy Cove will host a fundraiser for Springfield Deputy Mayor and independent candidate for Committee Bart Fraenkel.
The event is headlined by Doug Karpf, a local stand-up comedian who has performed regularly at Springfield venues like the Knights of Columbus and Mclynn's. Also, he's admirably nonpartisan in his performances: his website lists fundraisers for Democrats and Republicans alike.
Fraenkel, a former Democrat, broke with the township's Democratic party after clashing with them over political appointments. Earlier this year, he formed and registered the independent Springfield party.
