Housing Recovery Center Opens in Springfield

Center is open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week.

Union County residents whose homes were damaged or destroyed by Superstorm Sandy can visit the recently-opened Housing Recovery Center, located at 150 Morris Avenue in Springfield, to apply in-person for two New Jersey Stronger housing grants.

The New Jersey Department of Community Affairs has opened a center in each of the nine counties most impacted by Sandy. Those who have not previously applied for the Homeowner Resettlement Program or the Homeowner Reconstruction, Rehabilitation, Elevation and Mitigation (RREM) Program can stop in and complete an application.

Homeowners impacted by Sandy who have previously applied do not need to visit the Housing Recovery Center. Rather, applicants will be contacted during the next few weeks regarding the status of their application(s) and will be advised if additional steps must be taken, according to the Township of Springfield's website.
