Springfield's Community Pool Opens Saturday

It's not too late to register.

Memorial Day weekend wouldn't be the same without the opportunity for that first swim of the season. For those hoping to take a dip should the weather cooperate, Springfield's Community Pool opens Saturday at noon. 

Haven't joined the pool yet? There's still plenty of time. Residents and non-residents can register either by mail or in person at the Springfield Recreation Department located at 30 Church Mall. In addition to regular registration hours, which are Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 3:45, special dates and times are offered as follows:

Friday, May 24: 4 to 6 p.m.

Saturday, May 25: 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. 

Tuesday, June 11: 4 p.m to 6 p.m.

In addition to swim lessons, the Community Pool also offers a camp for children ages 4 through 13. Two camp trips in both July and August are available at an additional cost.

The following are the pool's hours for the 2013 season:

Weekends: May 25, 26, June 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, 16: 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. 

Weekends: June 22 - September 1: 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. 

Weekdays: June 24 - August 30: 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. 

Holidays: May 27, July 4, September 2: 9 a.m. to Close
