Three Firefighters Sworn onto Springfield FD

Kevin Ruck, Peter Peros and Christopher Tutela-Res join department.

The Springfield Fire Department welcomed three new members to its ranks at the Township Committee meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 28.

Kevin Ruck, Peter Peros and Christopher Tutela-Res all took oaths to join the department. Ruck is a Springfield native, but Tutela-Res, of Union, has connections to the township as well, through his work as a volunteer firefighter in Springfield.

The new hires bring the Fire department’s headcount up to 21, including Chief James Sanford and Deputy Chief Carlo Palumbo. Sanford said the staffing level was at its highest since 2006, when the Department had 25 firefighters. The township offered the trio conditional offers of employment in July.
