Irish Americans in NJ Politics

Seton Hall University’s Pirates of Irish Persuasion & Extraction (PIPE) will sponsor a program on Irish Americans in NJ politics, presented by Terry Golway and Brendan Gill.  Golway is the Director of the Kean University Center for History, Politics and Policy, and his work frequently appears in the New York Observer, the Star Ledger, and the Irish Echo.  Golway, who has written many books about Irish Americans in public life, will discuss the role that Irish Americans have played in the political process in NJ through the years.  Gill, a graduate of Seton Hall University who has held a variety of positions in government and currently works as the NJ Chief of Staff of Senior Senator Frank Lautenberg, will tell attendees about his experience in NJ politics, focusing on the role his Irish-American heritage has played in his decision to pursue a career in public service. The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place on Tuesday, September 20 at 7:30pm in the Beck Rooms of Walsh Library on Seton Hall’s South Orange campus.  For further information, contact Dr. Maura Harrington at maura.harrington@shu.edu or 201.463.5967, or visit the event’s Facebook page:  http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=162342677157784
