Walton Principal Reminds Parents to Avoid Idling Their Cars When Picking up Students

Turn engines off after three minutes.

The following is a message from Walton Principal Susie Hung.

--------------

Thank you to everyone for following the established procedures for our arrival and dismissal at Walton School.

I want to take this opportunity to remind everyone of NJ’s idling law (N.J.A.C. 7:27-14, 15 and N.J.S.A. 39:3-70.2). The codes prohibit idling in your vehicle for more than 3 minutes.

NO MOTOR VEHICLE MAY HAVE ITS ENGINE RUNNING IF STOPPED FOR MORE THAN THREE CONSECUTIVE MINUTES.

With some drivers coming to school so early for arrival and dismissal, it is important to turn off the engines when you get here. Engines should not be running the entire time you are here waiting for the doors to open.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Sincerely,
Susie Hung
