Temple Sha’arey Shalom Hosts Charity Softball Game with Springfield Fire Department

Temple Sha’arey Shalom of Springfield is hosting a Grand Slam Event—a charity softball game against the Springfield Fire Department.  TEAM TSS, comprised of young and adult Temple members, takes on the township’s Bravest on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 6:30pm at the Springfield Pool Field on Morrison Road in Springfield.  A rain date is scheduled for Wednesday, June 6.    Proceeds from the event will help support the Temple’s educational programs and Springfield H.O.P.E, the Fire Department’s designated charity. 

Springfield H.O.P.E.--or Helping Other People Endure--provides assistance to needy families in Springfield.    Firefighter Joseph Popolo, President of FMBA Local 57, says “We are excited to be able to participate in this charity softball game to help raise money for Temple Sha'arey Shalom and Springfield HOPE, two wonderful organizations here in Springfield.”   Temple co-President and TEAM TSS coach Felice Schneier adds “We look forward to playing the Fire Department in this wonderful community event and we hope everyone will come out and watch us play.  It’s a great way to spend a warm, spring evening.  The SFD is in for a great game—I hope they’re ready for us!”

The community is invited to bring a lawn chair and come out to cheer on TEAM TSS and the Springfield Fire Department--all for a great cause!   Admission is $5 per person, with kids under five FREE.  There will raffle prizes and snacks and refreshments for sale from J&M Curbside Café and The Ice Hut.  For more information, call the temple office at (973)379-5387 or email office@shaarey.org.
