Memorial Day Parade Marches Through Springfield Monday

Parade begins at 10 a.m. at Town Hall.

Springfield will celebrate Memorial Day with its annual parade starting at 10 a.m. at Town Hall and proceeding toward Veterans Park.

In a letter to the editor, Geri Bujnowski encouraged residents to come out and march and help bring back the tradition of a "really great parade, one that we can be proud of that honors our fallen men and women with a huge turnout of people that we can look forward to and that our kids can have the same feeling of pride and patriotism that we did."

Bujnowski urged residents to "hang out their flags, say a prayer for our men and women overseas, then go out and support our troops by watching a parade; if not in our town then go out in their own."

"It may not seem like it means anything, but I believe it does," she said. "Patriotism is a feeling that starts in our hearts. We need to show our kids that we have pride in our country by supporting our troops, the men and women that are overseas so they will have the same feelings that we had when we watched the parade and they won't want to miss out on next years parade or any other. There is plenty of time for cook outs after."

Marchers include the following:
